The bright red blood star (Henricia leviuscula) thrives on both sandy bottoms and rocky reefs, and is just one of the 68 different sea star species living in the coastal waters of BC. Proposed coastal oil and gas development would not only put sensitive ocean ecosystems at risk, it would also threaten a flourishing eco-tourism industry and the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
